Football club FC Barcelona has entered into a partnership with Whitebit, the largest European crypto exchange of Ukrainian origin. The trading platform will serve as the official crypto exchange partner of the Catalan football club until June 2025.

Enter the crypto world
Reportedly, FC Barcelona will receive €30 million for the three-year partnership. Whitebit and FC Barcelona plan to offer a variety of online and offline activities to bring crypto and football fans together. The exchange will also work with FC Barcelona’s handball, basketball, roller hockey and futsal teams.
Another important goal is to raise awareness among the sports community about cryptocurrencies and their merits. However, Whitebit’s logo will not appear on the sleeves of the club’s first team. The benefits will be limited to advertising during match days. Whitebit may also run promotions with soccer players from both the men’s and women’s soccer teams.
Juli Guiu, vice president of FC Barcelona’s marketing, said the following about the new partnership:
“We are delighted to announce this new partnership, another example of the club’s commitment to innovation. In addition, this is a partnership that will help us continue to grow and develop our global commercial expansion strategy, further strengthening the club while remaining a reference in an increasingly competitive field.”
Previous crypto dedication
This is not FC Barcelona’s first step into the crypto industry. A few months ago you could read that the football club with arch-rival Real Madrid had filed a trademark application for some metaverse and crypto-related products and services for fans.
It didn’t stop there, however, as the top club had also struck a mega deal with Chiliz (CHZ) and announced earlier in the year that it is working on its own cryptocurrency and metaverse. Since the beginning of 2020, fans have been able to purchase the Barca Fan Token (BAR) on Socios.com. Chiliz is, as it were, the engine behind the effectiveness of the fan tokens on Socios.com.
