Esports organizations often make tough calls. They are always looking for the right mix of talent to win. FaZe Clan just delivered some unexpected news for its Counter-Strike 2 squad. On Friday, August 22, the organization announced a major roster change.
Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, a well-known player, will move to the reserve bench. This decision comes less than eight months after he joined the team in January 2025. It shows how quickly things can shift in competitive gaming.
Stepping into EliGE’s spot is Jakub “jcobbb” Pietruszewski from Poland. This surprised many fans and marked a new chapter for the team. The FaZe Clan made this announcement through X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, sharing a brief update on the change.
EliGE’s final match for FaZe happened just two days before the announcement. On Wednesday, August 20, he played with the team at the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC). FaZe unfortunately lost that game 2-1 against the Turkish organization Aurora. It was not the farewell game anyone had expected.
EliGE has a long and respected career in top-tier Counter-Strike. He spent many years with Team Liquid, playing for them from March 2015 until June 2023. After leaving Liquid, he moved to Complexity, where he stayed until January 2025. That was just before he joined FaZe. His journey across these major teams highlights his lasting presence in the scene.
With this change, the new lineup for FaZe’s Counter-Strike 2 team includes a mix of experienced players and their fresh addition.
- Finn “karrigan” Andersen
- Håvard “rain” Nygaard
- David “frozen” Čerňanský
- Helvijs “broky” Saukants
- Jakub “jcobbb” Pietruszewski
