Fátima Bosch of Mexico Crowned Miss Universe 2025 in Surprise Victory

Mexico’s Fátima Bosch has been crowned Miss Universe 2025, winning the 74th edition of the global beauty pageant. The announcement came as a surprise to many viewers.

Bosch’s victory followed a competitive run, which had sparked some discussion during her journey in the Miss Universe 2025 competition.

The final round saw a tight race. Miss Venezuela, Miss Thailand, and Miss Ivory Coast were considered strong contenders. However, the ultimate decision came down to Fátima Bosch and Miss Thailand, Audrey Eckert, who was the representative of the host country.

The moment the winner was announced, naming Miss Mexico, caused widespread astonishment.

Bosch’s responses during the question-and-answer segments were instrumental in her win. Judge Nok Chalida asked her about the challenges of being a woman in 2025 and how the Miss Universe title could create a safe space for women globally.

Bosch stated she would use her voice in service of others as Miss Universe. She emphasized the importance of raising voices to create change, highlighting women as strong and courageous.

The general question asked how she would use the platform to empower young girls if crowned Miss Universe. Bosch urged young girls to believe in their authenticity and in themselves. She stressed that their dreams and hearts are important, and they should never doubt their worth.

The competition began with 30 candidates selected for the initial round. The first group to advance included Miss India Manika Vishwakarma, Miss Guadeloupe Ophély Mézino, and Miss China Zhao Na.

Other contestants in the Top 30 included Miss Thailand Audrey Eckert, Miss Dominican Republic Jennifer Ventura, Miss Brazil Gabriela Lacerda, Miss Rwanda Solange Tuyishime Keita, and Miss Ivory Coast Olivia Yacé. Miss Colombia Vanessa Pulgarín Monsalve, Miss Netherlands Nathalie Yasmin Mogbelzada, Miss Cuba Lina Luaces, Miss Bangladesh Tangia Methila, Miss Japan Kaori Hashimoto, Miss Puerto Rico Zashley Alicea Rivera, and Miss USA Audrey Eckert also made the cut.

The second group featured Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch, Miss Philippines Ahtisa Manalo, Miss Zimbabwe Lyshanda Moyas, Miss Costa Rica Mahyla Roth, and Miss Malta Julia Ann Cluett. Miss Chile Inna Moll, Miss Canada Jaime VandenBerg, Miss Universa Latina Yamilex Hernández, Miss Croatia Laura Gnjatović, Miss Venezuela Stephany Abasali, Miss Guatemala Raschel Paz, Miss Palestine Nadeen Ayoub, Miss Nicaragua Itza Castillo, Miss France Ève Gilles, and Miss Paraguay Yanina Gómez completed the list.

Notably, 13 Latin American representatives were among the Top 30. Miss Paraguay secured her spot through user votes on the Miss Universe website.

All 30 contestants participated in the swimsuit segment on the expansive Miss Universe stage. Fátima Bosch stood out by choosing a white swimsuit with cut-outs, rather than a bikini, which underscored her distinct personality.

The Top 12 included Miss Chile Inna Moll, Miss Colombia Vanessa Pulgarín Monsalve, Miss Cuba Lina Luaces, Miss Guadeloupe Ophély Mézino, Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch, Miss Puerto Rico Zashley Alicea Rivera, and Miss Venezuela Stephany Abasali. Other finalists were Miss China Zhao Na, Miss Philippines Ahtisa Manalo, Miss Thailand Audrey Eckert, Miss Malta Julia Ann Cluett, and Miss Ivory Coast Olivia Yacé. Six Latin American contestants were chosen by the judges for this stage.

The competition then narrowed to the Top 5. This group featured Miss Thailand Audrey Eckert, Miss Philippines Ahtisa Manalo, Miss Venezuela Stephany Abasali, Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch, and Miss Ivory Coast Olivia Yacé.

A tense moment occurred when Miss Ivory Coast, Olivia Yacé, nearly fell on stage due to her heel catching.

In the final announcement, Olivia Yacé from Ivory Coast was named the fourth runner-up. Ahtisa Manalo from the Philippines secured the third runner-up position. Stephany Abasali from Venezuela was the second runner-up.

The final two contestants were Miss Thailand and Miss Mexico. Fátima Bosch of Mexico was ultimately declared Miss Universe 2025, concluding a night of significant surprises.

Looking ahead, the next Miss Universe 2026 pageant will be hosted in Puerto Rico. Jenniffer González Colón, the Governor of the Caribbean island, announced the venue for the 75th edition of the prestigious competition.
