In a surprising change of course Fans of Nokia smartphones have to say goodbye to the brand as the company HMD Global, which has been releasing mobile phones under the Nokia brand since 2016, has decided to break off the relationship.
HMD Global has made the decision to sell its devices without the famous Nokia brand and has chosen to promote a product line under its own identity, simply “HMD”. The first HMD devices are expected to be presented at MWC 2024 in Barcelona.
All of Nokia Mobile’s social networks are now blocked and all of their followers have been removed. Even the old website has changed its name to HMD. This acronym stands for “Human Mobile Devices,” in case you’re curious.
The company’s goal is to create phones that are “durable, fun, safe, fast and affordable.”
Even though it is a sad moment, we must not forget that these Nokia smartphones only carried the brand name. Many users said goodbye to Nokia devices a long time ago, whether before the Microsoft takeover or after. In any case, we will not see Nokia smartphones again, which means the end of one of the most famous brands in the history of telephony.
