Family Condemns Hamas Video of Emaciated Israeli Hostage Aviyatar David

Family Condemns Hamas Video Showing Emaciated Israeli Hostage

A chilling video recently surfaced, showing an Israeli hostage, Eviatar David, in a visibly emaciated state. His family quickly spoke out. They accused Hamas, the group holding him, of intentionally starving him. They see the video as a calculated move, using his suffering for propaganda.

The video displays Mr. David, 24, inside a tight concrete tunnel. He looks terribly frail and gaunt. In the footage, he claims he hasn’t eaten for days. He also barely had any water. The video goes on to show him digging a hole. He says this hole is meant to be his own grave, a truly grim detail.

Hamas fighters captured Eviatar David last October. He was taken from a music festival in southern Israel during their attack. Now, his family is pleading for help. They are urging Israel’s government and other countries to act swiftly. Their one desperate wish is to bring him home safely.

Mr. David is one of many people seized that day. Hamas captured 251 individuals in total. Israel believes 49 of these hostages are still held in Gaza. This number includes 27 people who are feared to be dead. The fate of these captives weighs heavily on everyone.

Separately, aid groups have raised serious concerns. They claim Israel is using food as a weapon in the ongoing conflict. They argue this policy is pushing Gaza into a severe food crisis. Israel strongly denies these accusations. They state there are no restrictions on aid entering Gaza. Despite their denials, reports from the ground suggest a worsening humanitarian situation.

Gaza’s Health Ministry, which is run by Hamas, reported more deaths from hunger. On Saturday, seven more people died from malnutrition, including a child. Since the conflict started, 169 individuals have died this way. This tragic count includes 93 children. The ongoing war continues to impact the most vulnerable.

The ministry also provided updates on military actions. They reported that Israeli military attacks continued over the past 24 hours. At least 83 people died and another 1,079 were injured. These numbers highlight the devastating toll on civilians.

The Israeli military, known as the IDF, offered their own version of an event at an aid distribution point. They stated that soldiers fired warning shots. This happened hundreds of meters from where aid was being handed out. They claim that crowds kept moving forward, creating a threat. The IDF maintained they had no knowledge of any deaths resulting from that specific incident.

It is very difficult to verify these conflicting accounts. Foreign journalists are largely prevented from entering Gaza freely. Israel has blocked their access. This makes it challenging to get a complete and unbiased picture of the situation.

The current Israeli military actions in Gaza began as a response. They followed the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people in Israel. Since then, the Gaza Health Ministry reports a staggering number of casualties. They state 60,430 people have died from Israeli military actions.
