A thorough investigation has revealed that the man and woman accused of scams in the construction of prefabricated homes have a history of deceitful activities. The man, in particular, has a record of three criminal offenses, including prey and two instances of theft. Although the woman does not have a prior record, she is currently under inquiry for fraud.
According to sources, the couple’s modus operandi involved constructing homes in stages, with families agreeing to pay a predetermined amount at each stage. However, once the payments began, the couple would often abandon the project, leaving the families with incomplete and often defective structures.
Victim Testimonies
One of the victims, Virginia Binaghi, recounted her experience, stating that the scammer left her with an unfinished project and damaged materials. She expressed her desire to see the perpetrators brought to justice, rather than seeking financial compensation.
Another victim, Verónica Papaleo, shared her story, detailing how she was charged excessive fees and left with a poorly constructed wooden structure. She discovered that the materials used were not what was originally promised and that the couple had also stolen additional materials.
Fernando Benavente, another victim, described how the couple’s actions had left him and his family with nothing, despite their initial trust and investment. He expressed his hope that the couple would be held accountable for their actions.
