Hello Feveruses. They say that honor, honor, and I think it is a great success the dedication of the traditional Punta Blanca Golf Invitational Tournament in its 16th edition to a man who worked tirelessly for years trying to raise the competitive and organizational levels of our golf: Don Marcos trunky.
A certified public accountant and lawyer by profession, Don Marcos is a senior executive with more than 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur, CEO of important companies and long-term consultant, but he showed that his true passion was golf. He began his career in the sport when his daughter Laura showed interest in the game, and then the rest is history: he was a member of the FEDOGOLF Youth Committee from 1992 to 1996. Later he was elected president of the Board of Directors, a position he held for 6 years (periods 97′-98′, 2003-04′ and 05′-06′). During these periods, important achievements were obtained, such as the transformation of the Dominican Golf Association (ADOGOLF) to FEDOGOLF, its institutional and financial strengthening, obtaining important sponsorships, extraordinary support for youth golf with the continuation of the Youth Golf Tour, the Intercollegiate Golf League and the National Youth Championship, the Slope Rating of the country’s golf courses was carried out as a step prior to the incorporation of the Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN) with the endorsement of the USGA, various rules seminars were held, the massive integration of golf clubs to the Federation, the implementation of new tournaments such as the National Golf Tour, Best Ball National Championship, the continuation of the Stroke Play National Championships, the Executive Cup, and the Interclub National Championships, among others. A regulation was established for each championship and for the selection of the national team, clarifying the process to follow, thus substantially reducing the discretionary power of the federation. A great job with an extraordinary team.
In previous editions, the tournament paid tribute to prominent personalities linked to the business and golf world, such as Don Teodoro GarcÃa Trabadelo (founder of Punta Blanca), Homero Saviñón, Kalil Haché, Miguel Flaquer, Abel González (Cayo), Francisco Melo, Ernesto Izquierdo, Eusebio Núñez Malena, MLB MVP George Bell, José Zapata, Rafael Villalona, José Soto, and Luis Alcántara, so the dedication to Don Marcos is one that we celebrate and support. See you from September 29 to October 1 in Punta Blanca. Congratulations!!
