Carlos Sainz’s First Day at Williams F1
Carlos Sainz has marked the beginning of his journey with Williams F1, as he reported for his first official day of work at the historic Grove factory. This facility is home to 117 Grand Prix victories and 17 world championships. The Spaniard has commenced his new chapter, surrounded by the trophies and cars that symbolize the team’s rich history.
New Beginnings
Jedo Gaetan has been confirmed as Sainz’s new track engineer for the 2025 season. Gaetan previously worked with Franco Colapinto during his F1 debut last year.
Pre-Season Preparations
Sainz has been involved in an intense preseason physical preparation program, which began after the Kings holidays. He is now closely following the assembly of his new car, the FW47, scheduled to be unveiled on February 14. In addition to meeting his new team members and staff, Carlos will start testing his new machine in the simulator, utilizing data on the car’s expected performance.
First Impressions
The Williams F1 team responded to Sainz’s first-day photo with a message: “He is here and he is perfect.” Alex Albon, Sainz’s new teammate, welcomed him with a lighthearted message: “Welcome to Grove! Our coffee is very smooth.” This is a nod to Carlos’s nickname “Smooth Operator,” which originated from a Grand Prix day at Silverstone.
A Temporary Change in Plans
Sainz initially planned to attend the Dakar rally in Arabia to celebrate his father’s possible fifth victory. However, his father’s premature withdrawal from the event due to FIA verifications has altered Sainz’s schedule.
