What Kind of Circuit is Hungaroring?

The Hungaroring is a very twisty circuit, with only one real straight, the one that includes the finish line. This is the most likely overtaking point, if not the only one. From here, there are 14 curves, six to the left and eight to the right, some of which have radii of 180°. The track also goes up and down, and its 4,381 meters make it one of the shortest on the calendar.

Types of Tires and Expected Changes

Pirelli has designated the same three compounds as last year: C3 (Hard), C4 (Medium), and C5 (Soft). The softer compound will be the protagonist in qualifying, while the medium and hard compounds will be the favorites in the race.

Possibility of a Safety Car

Safety cars are relatively rare at the Hungaroring, with just five deployments in four races since 2014. It is estimated that the possibility of deploying the safety car is around 38%, especially in recent years, both virtual and real.

How Many Stops?

The race normally requires a single stop, Monaco style, but an unexpected performance of the hard tires in 2022 saw the teams prefer softer compounds and a two-stop race. This weekend, the C3 and C4 are likely to be the favorites in the race, while the C5 will be the protagonist in qualifying.

Who Can Win the 2024 Hungarian GP?

It is possibly one of the most unpredictable races, with more actors fighting for that pole position. This is almost half the chances of victory. And especially if Aston Martin launches the package that has been expected for several races and that can put them back in the lead.

How Important is Pole Position?

On a track where overtaking is not an easy task, qualifying takes on great importance, which explains why in 16 of the 38 editions held to date, the winner has been the ‘poleman’, and only on four occasions has a driver classified beyond the second row of the grid won.
