Exynos 2200 disappoints in the first known benchmarks

Samsung today unveiled its latest Exynos 2200 processor to be used in the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S22. This was seen as one of the most promising Korean processors due to the collaboration with AMD.

A few hours after the official presentation of the Exynos 2200, the first benchmark results for the component appeared. And unfortunately for Samsung, the numbers are still below what its biggest competitor (Snapdragon 8 Gen 1) can offer.

Exynos 2200 remains below the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on all fronts

The first results were published by the filter Ishan Agarwal in collaboration with MySmartPrice publication. As revealed, the vehicle was the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and it covers the main reference platforms on the market.

The results prove that the South Korean has not yet been able to develop a SoC capable of being equipped with a Qualcomm counterpart. The problem is that the Galaxy S22 will be distributed in some markets with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while in others with the Exynos 2200.

The table above makes a brief comparison of the known results of both processors that the Samsung Galaxy S22 will equip. Once again, everything indicates that the variant with a Qualcomm processor will be more advantageous.

On all smartphone benchmarking platforms we see an overlap of the values that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 amasses. Although the same cores are used in both, in the Qualcomm SoC there is a better optimization of resources.

The collaboration of AMD, with the implementation of its RDNA 2 technology in the Exynos 2200 graphics, does not seem to have the desired effect. Even in this parameter there is a victory of the component developed by the American.

Note that Samsung promises to bring technologies like ray tracing for smartphones that come equipped with Exynos 2200. A promise that is not fulfilled in the list of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 offers.

The important thing now is to wait for the launch of the Galaxy S22 and see if these differences will affect the use of smartphones. At first glance we see that Samsung’s new processor continues to disappoint and that could be enough to scare away some potential buyers.
