Extreme heat in Bangladesh, schools closed

Dhaka: The effects of global climate change are beginning to show in South Asia, due to which the region is suffering from severe weather.

According to foreign media reports, after India, Bangladesh is also under the grip of extreme heat these days, keeping in mind the severity of the weather, primary schools have been closed immediately.

According to the Bangladeshi authorities, primary schools have been closed until June 8 due to the ongoing heat wave in the country. Rajshahi, Nogaon, Nilphamari and Dinajpur are among the heat-affected districts.

On the other hand, officials of Meteorological Department said that the current heat wave will continue till June 12, during which moderate heat wave is expected in Dhaka, Khulna and other areas including Barisal, Chandpur.

According to Abdul Kalam Malik, the average temperature in Bangladesh was around 31.9 degrees Celsius in June, but due to global climate change, the temperature is currently being recorded 2 to 8 degrees higher than expected.
