A day earlier also there was an explosion in Kabul

Earlier on September 2, at least 18 people, including a prominent cleric believed to be close to the Taliban, were killed and 23 others were injured in a bomb blast at a crowded mosque in the city of Herat in western Afghanistan. Taliban officials and a local medical worker gave this information. He said the blast occurred during prayers at the Gujargah mosque in Herat city when there was a huge crowd. Videos from the scene showed bodies scattered in the mosque courtyard, with blood stains on the ground. People were screaming in fear and shock. The blast also killed Mujeeb-ul Rehman Ansari, a prominent cleric.
