Explosion in Poland: “The incident was probably caused by a missile from the Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense system”, says NATO

An incident, but no attack. NATO does not have “no indication” making it possible to attribute the deadly explosion in Poland to “a deliberate attack” against this country, said Wednesday, November 16, the Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg. “Our preliminary analysis suggests that the incident was likely caused by a Ukrainian air defense system missile fired to defend Ukrainian territory against Russian cruise missiles.”he said at a press conference.

Ukraine, the target of massive bombardments throughout its territory on Tuesday, accused Russia of having targeted Poland with a missile launch. “An investigation into this incident is ongoing and we must await its results,” stressed Jens Stoltenberg, after a meeting of NATO ambassadors at the organization’s headquarters in Brussels.

“Let’s be clear. It’s not Ukraine’s fault,” affirmed the head of the Atlantic Alliance. “Russia bears the ultimate responsibility as it continues its illegal war against Ukraine. Russia must end this senseless war,” he hammered, reiterating NATO’s support for kyiv in its “right to self-defense” and its full solidarity with Poland.
