A big esports event is on the horizon. The Thunderpick World Championship 2025 is setting up its main competition for October. Before that, teams must battle through a tough closed qualifier. Only four teams will grab a spot in the big show. This qualifier runs from September 9 to September 11.
Two Brazilian teams, Legacy and Imperial, are heading into this important qualifier. Many eyes are on them to see how they perform. Justin “FaNg” Coakley, a well-known former player from teams like Complexity and NRG, recently shared his thoughts on their chances. He spoke about what fans might expect from these organizations.
FaNg offered his take on Legacy’s current standing. He noted that the team should feel proud of their past Major campaign. While their results had been a bit up and down before that, they were generally doing well. FaNg sees them as strong contenders.
“I think Legacy is a team that, coming from what they did in the Major campaign, is very proud of itself. Before that, some of their results were a bit inconsistent, but, overall, they were doing well […] they can certainly make a good campaign in Thunderpick.”
Imperial, often known as “the green team,” has also seen some interesting roster moves. They recently brought in Felipe “skullz” Medeiros. Also, Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes rejoined the squad. These changes have created a buzz and added fresh energy to the team. Justin FaNg weighed in on what these shifts mean for Imperial.
“I think Imperial can pull something off too. […] they probably won’t be at the maximum level they want to reach. But I believe that […] chelo’s return to the team is a positive thing, especially for him. Overall, they will try to make an impact, playing game by game and seeing how far they can get in the tournament.”
The closed qualifier is a quick, intense competition. Fans can follow all the action live. Official broadcasts will be available on Thunderpick’s channels. You can catch the games on their Twitch and YouTube feeds.
