Ex-NFL Star Mark Sanchez’s Ex-Girlfriend on Arrest: “None of This Surprises Me”

Former NFL quarterback and current FOX Sports analyst Mark Sanchez finds himself in serious legal trouble. The star, once known for his exciting plays, recently faced a hospital stay and an arrest. Now, his ex-girlfriend, Erin Campaneris, has spoken out. She shared her feelings about the situation on Instagram, focusing on their 8-year-old son, Daniel.

The drama began after Sanchez was stabbed on October 4. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police arrested him while he was still recovering in the hospital. By October 5, he faced three misdemeanor charges: assault leading to injury, public intoxication, and illegally entering a motor vehicle. Things got even more serious on October 6. Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced a new Level 5 felony charge. This felony charge carries a possible prison sentence of one to five years.

After his hospital release on Sunday, October 12, Sanchez was taken to the Marion County Community Justice Campus. There, he had his fingerprints taken and his mugshot snapped. This all happened on the same day Campaneris chose to break her silence. She is also known as Bobby T in the modeling world.

“I know about the serious criminal charges facing my son’s father, Mark Sanchez,” Campaneris stated in her Sunday Instagram message. She made it clear that her top concern has always been, and still is, their son, Daniel. Campaneris explained she kept quiet before to protect Daniel. She also noted that she found out about the event from news alerts on her phone. She said the only information she has about her ex’s case is what has been made public.

Campaneris added that her focus remains the same now that everything is out in the open. She stated, “I have always worried about his safety and what he is exposed to.” Sadly, she admitted that none of this news truly surprised her. She ended her statement by sending her “thoughts and empathy” to Sanchez’s alleged victim and everyone else involved. She thanked those who showed kindness during her ex’s legal issues, again stressing her wish to protect her son.

Meanwhile, the alleged victim, Perry Tole, filed a lawsuit on October 6 against Sanchez and Fox Corporation. Tole claims Sanchez’s “malicious, willful, reckless, or grossly negligent conduct” caused “serious bodily injuries.” The lawsuit says Tole suffered “permanent disfigurement, loss of function, other physical injuries, emotional distress, and other damages.”

The lawsuit also targets Fox, arguing the company should make sure its employees act “reasonably.” Tole’s claim suggests Fox should have known about Sanchez’s alleged “unsuitability” and his “propensity for drinking and/or harmful conduct.” Tole has left Indianapolis’ Methodist Hospital and is now recovering at home.

The incident quickly impacted Sanchez’s professional life. He was supposed to be a FOX Sports analyst for the Indianapolis Colts versus Las Vegas Raiders game. Instead, Brady Quinn stepped in to replace him after Sanchez’s hospitalization and arrest.

Sanchez played in the NFL for eight seasons. He was a fifth overall pick in 2009 and famously led the New York Jets to two AFC Championship Games in his first two years. His career included stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Commanders before he retired in 2019. Adding another layer to the story, Sanchez’s wife, actress Perry Mattfeld, who recently welcomed twin daughters with him, has not yet made any public comments.
