Everyone at BCCI told Kohli to continue as T20 captain: Chetan Sharma

Refuting Virat Kohli’s statement, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Chetan Sharma, said on Friday that everyone at the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) asked Kohli to continue as the captain of the T20. After Kohli stepped down as T20 captain, BCCI chairman Sourav Ganguly had said the board had asked Kohli to reconsider his decision.

Kohli later refuted Ganguly’s statement, saying that he had not spoken to the Chairman of the Board and that he was informed 90 minutes before the selection committee meeting for the South African tour about his removal from the ODI captaincy.

Chetan Sharma said on Friday that from the selectors to the incumbents of the BCCI office, everyone had asked Kohli to continue as captain until the T20 World Cup. He further said that everyone had asked him to reconsider the decision.

Chetan Sharma further said that the decision to remove the ODI team captaincy from Virat Kohli was entirely up to the selectors. He further said: “I had told him about Virat Kohli’s removal from the ODI captaincy 90 minutes before the selection of the test team. I had called him myself. I had a good chat with Virat Kohli.”

Contrary to Sourav Ganguly’s statement, Virat Kohli said that no one had a problem with my decision. Nobody told me not to resign as captain of the T20. He said: “The first thing I told the BCCI about resigning the captaincy of the T20. It was very well received. Nobody has any problem, they have not told me that you should not resign the captaincy of the T20, but he appreciated the decision “.

Yes.” Ganguly had even said that he himself had asked Kohli not to give up the T20 captaincy, but Virat was adamant about leaving the T20 captaincy while talking about the workload.
