Hold onto your Santa hats, because Eva Longoria just dropped a holiday surprise, and fans are buzzing! Her latest Christmas movie, Christmas Karma, features a look so dramatic you might not even recognize her. This shows she’s really dedicated to the role, no doubt about it.
The trailer for Christmas Karma, directed by Gurinder Chadha, hit screens on Wednesday, September 17. In it, Longoria, who is 50, takes on the part of the Ghost of Christmas Past. She pops up halfway through the preview, completely transformed. Imagine a curly gray wig, a painted face, and a mysterious black and silver outfit. She looks nothing like her usual self.
Kunal Nayyar’s character, Eshaan Sood, is clearly taken aback. He jumps out of bed, telling her, “This is ridiculous, you’re not even dressed like a ghost.” Longoria’s character responds with a terrifying roar, helped a little by movie magic (CGI). This frightens Mr. Sood more than you can believe. The strange figure then introduces herself as the Ghost of Christmas Past. She sweeps Mr. Sood away on a trip down memory lane. He relives the day he had to leave his childhood home and say goodbye to his friends.
“Do you think these memories will change me?” Mr. Sood asks. The Ghost of Christmas Past gives a simple, direct answer: “Yes.”
A Bollywood Twist on a Classic Tale
This film brings a fresh, musical Bollywood style to Charles Dickens’ timeless story, A Christmas Carol. It promises a vibrant and unique holiday experience.
The movie’s plot, shared by Into Film, centers on Mr. Sood. He’s a rich British-Asian businessman who doesn’t believe in being generous. He also treats his staff poorly with zero-hour contracts. On Christmas Eve, three spirits visit him. They guide him through his past as a refugee, open his eyes to the harm his disdain causes in the present, and show him a grim future shaped by his selfish ways.

The story goes on to explain how Sood faces tough truths: prejudice, heartbreak, and the results of his own bad choices. In the end, with a little boost from a cheerful London taxi driver, he finds empathy and the simple joy of giving. The film also features a fantastic multicultural soundtrack. It blends gospel, bhangra, rap, and pop. This music celebrates the many different British communities and the true meaning of the season.
A Star-Studded Cast of Spirits
Longoria isn’t the only star bringing a spirit to life. Billy Porter takes on the role of the Ghost of Christmas Present, ready to show Mr. Sood how his actions affect others right now. And for the Ghost of Christmas Future, get ready for Boy George to make a memorable appearance. The impressive cast also includes Charithra Chandran, Hugh Bonneville, Leo Suter, Ali Asghar Shah, Danny Dyer, Pixie Lott, Bilal Hasna, Nitin Ganatra, Allan Corduner, Rufus Jones, Tracy-Ann Oberman, and Eve Jihan Cooper.
This gray-haired, ghostly look for Longoria is a far cry from her usual style. Just a day before the trailer dropped, on Tuesday, September 16, she appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers. There, she rocked her signature glamour. She wore a classic white dress and matching white heels. During her chat, Longoria spoke about her FXX sports docuseries called Necaxa. She also talked about how she splits her time between living in Spain and Mexico. It just goes to show Eva Longoria is always ready to dive headfirst into something new, whether it’s a spooky spirit or a global lifestyle!
