Eurozapping: Iran releases Belgian aid worker

Olivier Vandecasteele is now free. This Belgian humanitarian landed in Brussels (Belgium) on Friday 26 May. He had been imprisoned in Tehran (Iran) in February 2022 for espionage. He had been sentenced to 40 years in prison and 74 lashes. He was exchanged for Assadollah Asadi, sentenced to 20 years in prison in Belgium for having planned an attack against Iranian opponents in France.

Suspicions of electoral fraud in Spain

In Spain, suspicions of electoral fraud. Surveys were carried out in several towns across the country ahead of the municipal and regional elections on Sunday 28 May. Arrests took place on the right as well as on the left. The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, fears a strong abstention.
