European far-right celebrates victory of Giorgia Meloni in Italy

The leaders of the main formations of the European extreme right celebrated tonight the victory of the Brothers of Italy (FdI) party in the elections of the transalpine country and wanted to congratulate its leader Giorgia Meloni, who will become the first woman to govern Italy .

Thus, in Spain, the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has said, after knowing the electoral results, that "millions of Europeans have their hopes pinned on Italy".

On his Twitter social network account, Abascal has pointed out that the leader of the FdI Giorgia Meloni "has shown the way for a Europe that is proud, free and of sovereign nations, capable of cooperating for the security and prosperity of all".

From France, also in a tweet, the MEP of the Ressemblement National and candidate for the presidency of Marine Le Pen’s party, Jordan Bardella, has pointed out that "Italians have taught a lesson in humility to the European Union, which, through the mouth of Mrs von der Leyen, has tried to impose the vote".

Bardella has added that "no threat of any kind can stop democracy: the peoples of Europe raise their heads and take their destiny in their hands!".

For his part, Balázs Orbán, political director of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, has congratulated the leaders of the Italian right-wing coalition (Giorgia Meloni, Matteo Salvini and Silvio Berlusconi) on the same social network and has pointed out that "in these difficult times, we need more than ever friends who share a vision and a common approach to Europe’s challenges".

The Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, has limited himself to publishing a "Congratulations" dedicated to Meloni, as was former Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, who extended congratulations to Salvini and Berlusconi.

In Germany, AfD member of the Bundestag Beatrix von Storch congratulated "to the entire center-right alliance"while indicating that "together with our friends around Salvini, Giorgia Meloni can build a strong right-wing government".

The right-wing coalition formed by Brothers of Italy (FdI), Liga and Forza Italia (FI) has won the general elections that were held this Sunday by obtaining 42.2% of the votes in the Senate, compared to 26.14 achieved by the progressive alliance , according to the first projection broadcast by RAI public television.

FdI is the most voted party with 24.6%, according to projections, so everything indicates that its leader Giorgia Meloni will be the first woman to govern Italy.
