NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, has been pushing for “Sovereign AI” since 2023. He wants countries to control their own AI technology. Now, European leaders are starting to listen. Huang recently visited London, Paris, and Berlin to announce big projects and partnerships. He said NVIDIA will invest billions of dollars in Europe, but Europe needs to move fast on AI.
The UK’s Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, is investing £1 billion to boost the country’s tech capabilities. He wants the UK to create AI, not just use it. France’s President, Emmanuel Macron, agrees. He says building AI infrastructure is key to maintaining sovereignty.
Mistral, a French company, is working with NVIDIA to build a massive AI data center using 18,000 NVIDIA AI chips. This project will expand to more areas in 2026. Germany’s Friedrich Merz is also calling for digital sovereignty and a strong economic future.
Huang told EU leaders that NVIDIA will produce some chips in the EU’s planned giant AI factories. This will reduce dependence on US companies.
