Erik Martorell hangs the silver medal in Milton

The Spanish cyclist Erik Martorell won the silver medal in the “scratch” event of the Nations Cup in Milton (Canada), in which Tania Calvo and Laura Rodríguez were also eighth in “scratch” and in elimination, respectively.

Martorell achieved great success and for two seasons it has been growing by leaps and bounds. The silver medal is added to other achievements: the fifth place in the Omnium of the last World Cup, another silver medal in the elimination of the Nations Cup in Hong Kong or the Spanish record for Individual Pursuit.

On this occasion, he signed his second post gthanks to a powerful attack he launched with less than ten laps to go and after taking advantage of the doubts that reigned in the platoon. Martorell acquired a sufficient advantage with which he endured the final rush of his rivals to enter behind the winner, Rhus Britton.

The Spanish Tania Calvo and Laura Rodríguez also signed good results. The first, in “Scratch”, competed with the best until the end to finish in the top ten a test in which the world champion Martina Fidanza imposed her law. For her part, Laura Rodríguez, in elimination, finished in the same position. The American Jennifer Valente, achieved victory.
