Enric Mas already has a new challenge to continue shining in the 2023 season. After his good performance in the Tour of Andalusiawhere a puncture in the first stage prevented him from being closer to Tadej Pogacar in the general classification, the Movistar cyclist will face from next Monday his second race of this 2023: the Tirreno-Adriatico. A Mas who returns to Italy after achieving great success in the transalpine country at the end of 2022 with his victory in the Giro dell’Emilia and his second place in the Giro de Lombardy.
With Pogacar and Vingegaard in Paris-Nice, Enric Mas is emerging as one of the great favorites for victory in the general in the ‘Carrera de los Dos Mares’ in a test in which the Balearic cyclist will be supported in the mountains by Jorge Arcas, Nelson Oliveira and Carlos Verona.
Movistar will also go to Tirreno-Adriatico to look for sprint victories with Fernando Gaviria. The Colombian wants to continue with his good start to the year and will be supported in the massive arrivals by Albert Torres and Álex Aranburu.
Jorgenson, Cortina and Izagirre, leaders for Paris-Nice
The Movistar team has also announced the team with which it will compete from next Sunday in Paris-Nice. With Enric Mas in the Tirreno-Adriatico, the stripes of leader will fall to the American Matteo Jorgensonwho this year has already won the general in the Tour of Oman.
Jorgenson will have the help of a Gorka Izagirre who also starts with options to fight with the best in the ‘Carrera del Sol’, and will also be supported by Imanol Erviti, Mathias Norsgaard and Gregor Mühlberger.
As in Tirreno-Adriatico, Movistar will try to be protagonists in the massive arrivals with Iván García Cortina and Max Kanter. A Movistar that wants to continue demonstrating the hunger for triumphs with which it has started 2023 in two of the most prestigious one-week races on the calendar.
