In a statement, the ECB said: “Nottinghamshire batsman Alex Hales has been included in England’s ICC T20 World Cup squad in place of Yorkshire batsman Jonathan Bairstow. Bairstow sustained a left ankle injury last week. last week, which ended his chances of playing the tournament.Hales, who last represented England in March 2019 for 33 years, will also be part of the team in the T20 International series which will take place on the tour of Pakistan.
Hales was written off due to Morgan’s dislike
Hales played his last cap for England as a T20 match against the West Indies in March 2019. He has been a vital member of the England squad continuously since the 2015 World Cup in limited overs cricket. He was dropped from the team due to an off-field issue that was opposed by then-captain Eoin Morden. Although during this time he performed well in all the ongoing T20 leagues in the world, but due to Morgan’s insistence, he did not get a place in the English team. Hales, a right-handed batsman, has scored 1644 runs in 60 T20Is in his career thus far with an average of 31.01 and a strike rate of 136.65. During this, he has also marked eight half-centuries with a century. Talking about the overall T20 career, the 33-year-old batsman has so far scored 10104 runs in 359 games at an average of 30.71 and has a strike rate of 147.58. He has scored five centuries and 63 half centuries in his T20 career so far.
