England Stunned by South Africa in Thrilling Cricket Match

England and South Africa faced off in Group 2 of the Super 8 round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St. Lucia. The Proteas emerged victorious, securing a significant win that has almost guaranteed their spot in the semi-finals.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. A rapid start by Quinton de Kock set the tone, with the opener scoring 65 runs off 65 balls, featuring four fours and four sixes. David Miller supported de Kock with 43 runs off 28 balls, inclusive of four fours and two sixes.

Jofra Archer was the standout bowler for England, taking 3 wickets, while Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali accounted for one wicket each.

The target of 164 runs proved a hurdle too far for England. The hosts fought valiantly but were ultimately restricted to 156 runs, with six wickets down, allowing South Africa to secure a seven-run victory.

The African bowling attack, spearheaded by Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj, who both picked up two wickets, and Otniel Bartman and Enrique Norkhia, who accounted for one wicket apiece, proved decisive. England’s hopes were dealt a blow when Harry Brook scored 53 runs, and Liam Livingstone chipped in with 33 runs off 17 balls.
