Jason Roy was an important part of the England cricket team that won the World Cup in 2019.

Due to the ever increasing reach of cricket franchise across the world, in recent years many big cricketers have given up their country contracts and given importance to cricket league. New Zealand’s star pacer Trent Boult made this big decision last year, but recently told himself that he would be there for the World Cup. Now a cricketer who played a major role in England’s 2019 World Cup victory has started down this path. He, too, has made a similar decision and made himself available to the cricket franchise, withdrawing from the country’s core contract. Until now this was the report but now the English cricketer himself has clarified it.

We are actually talking about England’s Jason Roy, who we had spoken about earlier on the basis of a report that he may leave the England Cricket Board (ECB) core contract. Now this cricketer has done the same and has decided to withdraw from the core contract. At the same time, this star opener has also given his answer regarding the 2023 ODI World Cup which will be held in India this year. He wrote a long note on Instagram Story and gave full details about it. He said that he is not going to leave England cricket. He argued with the ECB about playing Major League Cricket and the board will not pay him for the rest of the year, which means he is out of the contract. Apart from this, he also said that he is a format player so he will play in other leagues and England Cricket will not pay him for this. The board has also agreed to this.

Will Jason Roy play in the 2023 World Cup?

In the year 2019 England became World Champion and Roy had a valuable contribution in that. He has said about the World Cup taking place this year that he will only give priority to England cricket. If the World Cup is to take place this year, his focus is entirely on that. It is a matter of pride not only for me but for any player to have the opportunity to play for a country and get an international cap. It is a matter of pride for me to represent my country. I want to play for England as long as I can. I will be present as a format player without a contract. I will be playing other competitions (cricket league) but I will be careful that it does not conflict with the England cricket schedule. Playing in different competitions will also help me as an England cricketer.
