Employers must pay twice this Monday to those who work

The Ministry of Labor ordered through a resolution a series of measures for the benefit of the employees who have to work this Monday, such as the payment of the increased salary as it is a non-working day.

Before the passage of hurricane fionathe President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, ordered that This Monday, September 19, is non-working and, therefore, the Ministry of Labor instructed employers and workers to take "all necessary measures to safeguard your life and property for national production".

In this sense, he said that the measures must be implemented in companies that meet basic or essential needs for the population, such as supermarkets, clinics, grocery stores, fuel stations, pharmacies, among others.

In the case of other companies "by common agreement between employers and workers"the Ministry of Labor establishes that the physical integrity of the parties must be guaranteed, as well as the assets of the company.

Among the measures, it provided that Employers must pay workers’ wages "increased by one hundred percent (100%)" according to the provisions of article 205 of the Labor Code.

"When, by agreement between the parties, the worker renders services on a legally declared non-working day, he will receive as compensation the salary to which he is entitled increased by one hundred percent."establishes the Labor Code.

It also recommends those companies that can do it to implement the telework modality.
