Elon Musk’s Starlink is gearing up to offer internet services in southwest Switzerland. The Swiss Federal Office of Communications, BAKOM, announced that Starlink has submitted a request to provide satellite internet in the region.
According to Le Nouvelliste, a Swiss news outlet, Starlink plans to install 40 signal towers in the town of Leuk. BAKOM revealed that the company filed its application with the Swiss government earlier this summer. The terms and timeline of the permit are still being negotiated between Starlink and Swiss officials.
This news comes on the heels of Musk’s highly publicized split with Donald Trump’s administration. Their disagreement over ideas and policies led to Trump’s call to cancel all government contracts with Musk’s companies.
