Elon Musk has launched Grokipedia, an AI-powered online encyclopedia, asserting it is already superior to Wikipedia and will be significantly better in its next iteration, with a key focus on filtering misinformation.
Musk announced on October 28, 2025, that Grokipedia version 0.1 was live, claiming it was “better than Wikipedia” and that version 1.0 would be “10X better.” The platform is designed to allow users to search a wide array of topics, from general information to extensive research subjects.
A core feature promoted by Musk is Grokipedia’s purported capability to filter out false information. Users will be able to request Grok to add, edit, or delete articles, with the AI either complying or providing a reasoned explanation for refusal.
Musk also stated that Grok had generated approximately 1 million articles using substantial processing resources.
Grokipedia officially launched on October 27, 2025. The platform experienced a brief outage upon launch, and initial reports indicated it was still experiencing issues.
The name “Grokipedia” appears to be a deliberate play on “Wikipedia,” positioning the new platform as a direct competitor. This initiative follows Musk’s earlier release of Grok, a generative AI that garnered initial popularity but was not widely considered a significant departure from existing competitors.
Musk previously introduced “AI Companions,” chatbots that included an “NSFW” (not safe for work) mode intended for adult users.
