95-Year-Old Woman Victim of Swindling
A 95-year-old woman with memory problems has fallen victim to a scam in the department of Paysandú, Uruguay. According to reports, the woman was visited by a man and a woman who pretended to be her relatives.
Criminals Identified and Vehicle Located
Police have identified the vehicle and the perpetrators of the crime. The police chief, Eduar Alvez, stated that the swindlers are not from the department, but they did have prior knowledge of the victim’s movements. The victim, who lives alone, was targeted by the criminals.
Scammers Pose as Relatives
The elderly woman was visited by the criminals, who posed as her relatives. She gave them money in pesos and dollars. The scammers then took her to the bank and various currency exchange offices in the city, but after failing to access the money, they left her abandoned on a central street in the city.
Relatives Report Incident to Prosecutor’s Office
The woman’s relatives later appeared at the Prosecutor’s Office to report the incident.
