An iconic scene from Star Wars: Episode III has resurfaced in a surprising place: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
Media outlet Gamespot unearthed that a 19-year-old Easter egg referencing the film remains intact in the latest version.
Easter Egg Origin
The reference appears after players enter an Oblivion Gate for the first time. Upon exploring the area, they can find an NPC’s charred corpse, a nod to Anakin Skywalker’s defeat at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The original Oblivion game launched in 2006, a year after Star Wars: Episode III hit theaters in 2005. Bethesda is known for sprinkling Easter eggs throughout its games, so it’s no surprise to see Star Wars references popping up.
Bethesda’s Easter Egg Tradition
Bethesda has a history of incorporating clever nods to other franchises in its games.
- The Star Wars reference in Oblivion is just one example
- Bethesda’s Easter eggs often add an extra layer of depth to their games
