Unimás has launched El Conquistador: Supervivencia Extrema, a new reality competition pushing participants to their absolute limits. The show promises an intense blend of strategy, endurance, and raw drama. It takes place amidst the rugged landscapes of the Dominican Republic.
Hosts Julián Gil and Val Marín also endure the demanding environment alongside the contestants. The series emphasizes authentic challenges, with real heat, insects, and scarce resources.
Thirty-six anonymous contestants are vying for a grand prize of $200,000 USD. They also compete for the title of "El Conquistador."
Unlike other reality formats, this program features ordinary individuals. Participants range from teachers and mothers to trainers and laborers.
The competition begins with contestants divided into three distinct camps. These offer varying degrees of hardship.
"El Rico" (The Rich) provides basic comforts and some food. "El Pobre" (The Poor) has precarious conditions and limited resources. "El Infernal" (The Infernal) presents extreme hunger, cold, and exhaustion.
The competition unfolds in three phases. Initially, teams collaborate to win challenges and secure privileges.
Teams are divided into "Amazonas" (all women), "Centauros" (mixed), and "Titanes" (all men). A team is absorbed if it drops below six members.
The "Unification Phase" transitions to individual competition. Alliances shatter as each participant fights for their own survival.
The "Qualifying and Grand Final" sees the five strongest competitors battle through elimination challenges. Four advance to the final showdown.
Each team is led by a captain who guides and participates in challenges. They experience the same conditions as contestants but cannot be eliminated.
Viridiana Álvarez, a 41-year-old Mexican alpinist, leads the "Amazonas." She is the first Latina to scale the world’s 14 highest mountains.
Eduardo "Judoman" Ávila, a 39-year-old Paralympic judoka and triple gold medalist, captains the "Centauros."
Peter Hance, a 50-year-old Puerto Rican trainer and former Big Brother winner, leads the "Titanes."
Viewers can also follow Luna de Miel Extrema (Extreme Honeymoon) on ViX. This docu-reality showcases Julián Gil and Val Marín’s behind-the-scenes life.
It offers a glimpse into their challenges, including enduring storms, mosquitoes, and primitive conditions.
El Conquistador: Supervivencia Extrema premiered Monday, October 27. It airs at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT on Unimás.
Luna de Miel Extrema is available for streaming exclusively on ViX after each episode.
