Eiffage wins two major offshore wind contracts in Germany

(AOF) – Eiffage, through Smulders (Belgian subsidiary of Eiffage Métal), has just been named winner by Ørsted, the world leader in offshore wind power, of two contracts for the manufacture of secondary steel structures for the foundations. monopiles of the Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farms in Germany.

Smulders will be in charge of the secondary structures of the foundations of the 23 wind turbines and the offshore substation for Gode Wind 3 as well as those of the foundations of the 83 wind turbines of the Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore park. Smulders will notably supply the docking structures, the ladders exteriors, internal suspended platforms and anode cages used for corrosion protection.

This equipment will be mainly manufactured by the Polish Smulders factory before being transported to the coast where it will be assembled and the electrical system installed. Their production will begin in May 2022 and will last until the first quarter of 2023.

The Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm, located in the German North Sea, will have a total capacity of 913 MW and is expected to be commissioned in 2025. The Gode Wind 3 farm, also off the German coast, will have a total capacity of 253 MW and should be commissioned in 2024. Once completed, these wind farms will produce the equivalent of the consumption of approximately 1.2 million households in Germany each year.
