Osama Rabia, chairman of the Swine Canal Authority in Egypt, said that from February 2022, the transit tools for all ships passing through the Suez Canal will be increased by 6%.

According to the foreign news agency, cruise ships and LNG ships will be exempted from this increase as their tools will remain the same as they were during 2021.

About 17,000 boats have crossed the Suez Canal so far this year, according to the authority.

In a statement issued on September 21, the Suez Canal Administration announced an 11.6% increase in canal revenue during the first nine months of 2020.

The Suez Canal, one of the fastest ports between Asia and Europe, is one of Egypt’s most important sources of foreign exchange.

To reach the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, ships have to use the Suez Canal. This is an artificial sea level waterway.
