The Club Atlético e Cultural (CAC) is getting ready for a big weekend. For the second year in a row, they will host the EGCA Odivelas Grand Prix de Goalball. This important event runs from September 5th to 7th. All the action will take place at the Moinhos da Arroja Pavilion in Odivelas. The European Goalball Club Association (EGCA) and the Odivelas Municipal Council are teaming up with CAC to make it happen. Sports publication Record will also be an official media partner, bringing all the updates to fans.
This tournament is more than just a competition. It’s a vital stepping stone for adapted sports, especially for the Club Atlético e Cultural. They are showing everyone their deep commitment to goalball and its athletes. The CAC aims to help these players become even better and more competitive. Winning this event is a goal, but so is setting a high standard for organization.
Mauro Diogo, who leads the club’s adapted sports department and organizes the event, shared his excitement. He said this Grand Prix will mark another special moment in the club’s history for adapted sports. Hosting seven teams again proves that people trust their ability to put on a great show. Diogo also mentioned that this event serves as a crucial practice run. The club will organize the EGCA Champions League in February, so this is a chance to test everything. He hopes to make this edition even better than last year’s.
Last year, the RGC Hansa team took home the trophy. The host club, CAC, finished in a strong second place. This year, they are looking to go one step further.
