Table tennis player Britt Eerland just failed to reach the third round at the table tennis World Cup. The 27-year-old Eerland had to acknowledge her superiority in the Japanese Saka Shibata with 4-3 in the American Houston. It was 11-3, 7-11, 11-13, 11-4, 11-5, 6-11, 11-6 for the Asian.
In the decisive game, Eerland continuously faced a deficit against the number 43 in the world. Eerland itself occupies 28th place in the global ranking.
Eerland was the only Dutch participant in the United States, where a World Cup has never been held before. She had started the tournament with a 4-3 win over Serbian Sabina Surjan. At the world championships, seven victories are required for the world title.
