Educational Sciences, athletics champion of the Tony Barreiro Games

The Faculty of Education Sciences won nine gold, seven silver and four bronze medals to win the title of champion of the athletics competitions of the 41 Tony Barreiro Games held by the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).

The Education athletes prevailed over their competitors, because in second place the extension of Santiago finished, which won three gold medals, two silver and four bronze.

In third place, the extension of La Romana finished with two gold, three silver and one bronze medals. Barahona followed him in the medal table with two first places and one silver. The competition was held on the warm-up track of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.

These results allow the Faculty of Education Sciences (FCE) to maintain first place in the current edition of the Tony Barreiro, since they have won 24 gold, 19 silver and 11 bronze medals to add 54 points.

Results

Edelin Rodríguez, from Educational Sciences, won the 100 meters with a time of 12.93, in a close final over Beyanira Kilomé, from La Romana, who scored 12.98.

In men’s, the winner was Reynardo Herrera, from La Vega, with 10.33, to beat Emilio Gavilán, from Education, who crossed the finish line in 10.64.

In the 200 meters, the winners were Rosmarlin Argomás, from Santiago, with 27.41, and Reynaldo Herrera, from La Vega, with 20.95.

Lilian Reyes, from Education Sciences, won the 400 meters with a time of 58.34, while her college classmate Alex García dominated the men’s with 49.56.

In the women’s 800 meters, the Faculty of Education won gold in women’s and men’s, with Lilian Reyes and her time of 2:41:42, and Alex García, who stopped the clock in 2:00:69.

In the 1500 meters the winners were Rudelina Pérez, from Barahona (5:40:47) and Luis Miguel, from Higüey, (4:11:59).

The 5,000-meter test was dominated by María Guzmán, from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (25:48:68) and Daniel Contreras, from the San Juan extension, with 15:54:00.
