Eduardo Rodríguez moves to the restricted list of the Detroit Tigers

The Detroit Tigers announced that Venezuelan southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez has been placed on the restricted list due to “personal issues.”

“Eduardo Rodríguez has informed the club that due to personal matters, he will not be meeting with the team at this time."expressed via a statement the vice president and general manager of the Tigers, the Cuban Al Ávila. "As a result, Eduardo has been placed on the restricted list until further notice.”

Sidelined for nearly a month with a left side sprain, Rodriguez pitched 4.0 scoreless innings for Triple-A Toledo on Thursday as part of his rehab.

In eight starts for Detroit before the injury, Rodriguez is 1-3 with a 4.38 ERA, 34 strikeouts and 17 walks in 39.0 innings.

Before this season, Rodríguez signed a five-year, $77 million contract with the Tigers, after six seasons with the Red Sox.
