Eduardo Domínguez warned that he has a short squad and with many youth

Independiente’s coach, Eduardo Domínguez, warned this Thursday that he has a “short squad with many youth” to fight for the Professional League Cup, in which he will debut this Saturday against Estudiantes in La Plata, in a zone 2 match .

“I have to know how to use the pieces and the players. I have to be in Independiente, where I dreamed of, and we believe in the processes with club players as well. We are a small group, with many youth players, but in a big club and we know what it represents “Dominguez pointed out in an interview with ESPN.

“I had to be in very fair squads in other stages, like when I was DT of Huracán and we suffered an accident in Venezuela. At that time we competed with everything fair, although we reached the round of 16 in a way that is difficult to explain because of the things that happened in Medellín against Atlético Nacional,” he recalled.

In this transfer market, Independiente obtained the arrivals of defender Alex Vigo (River) and forwards Damián Batallini (Argentinos Juniors) and Leandro Fernández (Uruguayan National) although Alan Velasco (Dallas FC, from the United States), Silvio Romero (Fortaleza, from Brazil) and Fabricio Bustos (Inter, from Porto Alegre).

“I know that relevant and important players left us and we must replace them with performance, not with individualities because it will be difficult at the beginning. Hopefully the three boys who arrived will give us solutions with their forms”, commented the DT.

Domínguez, champion a year ago with Colón, acknowledged that he wanted Iván Marcone (Elche from Spain) although for “financial” reasons it could not be specified. The Spanish team asked for 2,500,000 dollars in 24 installments, although Independiente offered a loan for one season and was rejected. “Fortunately we have good players in the middle and I understand that we could have strengthened that area with replacements and quality, but it didn’t come and that’s how it is,” he lamented.

Facing the debut on Saturday, at 9:30 p.m., against Estudiantes, the starting team has not yet been confirmed. However, as seen in the weekly work, Independiente will go with Sebastián Sosa; Gonzalo Asís or Alex Vigo, Joaquín Laso, Juan Insaurralde, Thomas Ortega; Carlos Benavidez, Lucas Romero, Alan Sonora; Andrés Roa, Leandro Fernández and Damián Batallini.
