The Águilas Cibaeñas announced the signing of the Dominican free agent right-hander Edward Lopez.
“López is an arm without limitations that comes from having a good winter in Colombia as starter and solid performance in the Caribbean series”, said Ángel Ovalles, Operations Manager of the Eaglets, when giving the official information.
Eduar is 28 years old, 6-0 tall, weighs 180 pounds, is a native of the community of Galván, a municipality in the Bahoruco province in the Dominican Republic and works as a starting pitcher.
“He is a pitcher without restrictions, which is very adapted to our policy of having pitchers with those possibilities,” argued Ovalles.
López has played little in Dominican baseball, his participation in only two games with the Gigantes del Cibao in the 2021 season, in which he worked three innings, they gave him 4 hits, allowed four runs and his ERA is 12.00.
He had previously been assigned to the Tigres del Licey in 2017, but did not appear with the team.
Last year he was successful in the Cibao Summer League, playing for Granjeros de Moca, he also played in Mexico with Oaxaca and then signed to play in Colombia.
Eduar Rolanny López impressed the Águilas coaches in the last Caribbean Series, held in Venezuela, playing with the Vaqueros de Montería (Colombia) after whitewashing the Tigres del Licey in 7.0 quality innings.
He allowed just four hits, making it one of two wins at the event. His performance (2-0 and 0.73 ERA) catapulted him to be chosen as the right-hander for the All-Star team in the Series.
He began his career as a professional baseball player when he was signed as an international free agent by the Los Angeles Angels in 2012, playing for two years in the DSL, before traveling to the United States.
In 2015, the Angels traded him to the Tampa Bay Rays for outfielder David De Jesús. His trajectory through the minority circuits of the United States extended until 2018, compiling a record of 34-25 with a 3.50 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP.
We announce the signing of free agent pitcher Eduar López. He comes from an outstanding participation in the Caribbean Series with Colombia. In 2 games he was 2-0 with a 0.73 ERA on 12.1IP with 6 strikeouts. welcome to the #FamilyAguilucha pic.twitter.com/n1xuL25VAI
