Tamil actors K. Srikant and Krishna Kumar have been summoned by India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED). The summons is for questioning in an alleged cocaine case.
The ED’s Chennai Zonal office has directed both actors to appear before investigators next week. They are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
Officials state the summons is part of an ongoing investigation. This probe targets an alleged money laundering and drug trafficking network. It is linked to recent cocaine seizures in Chennai.
K. Srikant and Krishna Kumar were granted bail by the Madras High Court in July 2025. This decision came after their arrest for allegedly obtaining cocaine for personal use. No illegal substances were recovered directly from them at the time of their arrest.
The Greater Chennai City Police had registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act) on June 18. This was the initial legal action.
The incident’s background involves a special team from the Chennai Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU). They arrested John, a Ghanaian national, for allegedly supplying cocaine to Pradeep Kumar.
Following this, Srikant, Kumar, and two other individuals, Jawahar and Prasanth, were also arrested. John has since received bail, while Pradeep, Jawahar, and Prasanth remain in jail.
The ED’s current money laundering investigation aims to uncover how the accused and their associates utilized funds allegedly acquired illegally. It seeks to understand the full scope of the drug network and related financial activities.
Lawyers for K. Srikant and Krishna Kumar have confirmed that both actors will fully cooperate with the investigation. They intend to clarify their involvement in the matter.
