The glitz and glamour of the entertainment world sometimes give way to serious business. Actress Anveshi Jain, a familiar face from the popular series ‘Gandii Baat,’ recently made a public appearance that wasn’t for a new project. She arrived at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) headquarters in Delhi, not for a photoshoot, but for a round of questioning. Her presence signals a new development in a widening money laundering investigation linked to illegal online betting apps.
Anveshi’s name joins a growing list of public figures who have been drawn into this high-stakes legal drama. The ED has been relentless in its crackdown on illegal betting operations. Previously, stars like actress Urvashi Rautela, actor Sonu Sood, and even cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa have faced similar inquiries. Anveshi, who also works as a social media influencer and singer, is now cooperating with the ED’s investigation into one of these complex money laundering cases.
The investigation particularly zeroes in on the 1xBet betting app. This app, along with many others, is accused of scamming huge amounts of money from everyday people and investors. Authorities also believe these apps have been dodging taxes. Back in 2023, the Ministry of Information Technology took strong action, banning a total of 174 illegal betting apps, including 1xBet, to curb these illicit activities.

Anveshi Jain herself has an interesting story. Hailing from a Jain family in Madhya Pradesh, she chose a path less traveled. She left her MBA studies to pursue her dreams in Mumbai. Her big break came in 2019, when she gained significant recognition for her role in Ekta Kapoor’s series ‘Gandii Baat.’ Beyond that, she has built a career appearing in various shows like ‘Martin,’ ‘Dragon,’ ‘Guddiya Ki Shaadi,’ ‘Boss,’ and ‘Who Is Your Daddy.’ Now, her journey takes an unexpected turn into a much more serious spotlight.
