Ed Kelce Confirms Death of Longtime Partner Maureen Maguire, 74

Ed Kelce is heartbroken. His longtime partner, Maureen Maguire, has passed away at 74 years old.

The father of football stars Travis and Jason Kelce, Ed, shared a link to Maguire’s obituary. He posted it on his Facebook page on Saturday, August 2.

The obituary, found at Stretch Funeral Home, described Maureen. It said she was born on November 21, 1950, in the Bronx, New York. She later moved to the Philadelphia suburbs. There, she built a home full of love and laughter. It also mentioned her family traditions.

Maureen is survived by her three children from a previous marriage. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and her siblings. The cause of her death has not been made public.

Maureen found happiness in simple things. She loved the beach, especially the Jersey Shore. She also had a deep affection for dogs. In recent years, she spent special time in Cape May with her family. Those were peaceful days by the sea. The obituary also noted she gained an unexpected love for football later in life. She shared many laughs and adventures with Ed Kelce and her loyal dog, Butch.

Maureen and Ed often traveled together for “football games and concerts.” These trips likely supported Ed’s sons. Travis is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Jason played as a center for the Philadelphia Eagles for 14 seasons. He retired in 2024.

The tribute described Maureen’s special way with people. “[Ed and Maureen] took every chance to enjoy life to the fullest,” the statement shared. “She was amazing at making friends with strangers. She made everyone around her feel special, seen, and welcome. Her presence turned normal moments into memories. Her kindness, quick wit, and gentle strength left a lasting mark on all who met her.”

Maureen and Ed’s social circle got even bigger in 2023. That’s when Travis, 35, started dating pop superstar Taylor Swift.

Ed told Audacy’s 92.3 ‘The Fan radio show in January 2024 about meeting Taylor. He explained that when Travis has friends in town for a game, they all gather at his house. Travis himself is with the team. “Everyone gathers at the house, and there’s a shuttle that comes to pick them up and take them to the game,” Ed said. “Any home game, you could end up with 20 people there.”

He then recalled the moment Taylor walked in. “Taylor comes in with a security guard,” Ed remembered. “I look at her, and I say [to my girlfriend], ‘Oh my God, I know this girl, but I don’t know her name. Geez, I feel like a real idiot.'”

Maureen’s response was quick and clear. Ed said she told him, “Don’t you know her? That’s Taylor Swift, you idiot.”

Ed, who shares his sons with ex-wife Donna Kelce, didn’t know how famous Swift was. But he was impressed by her down-to-earth nature.

Later, in February 2024, Ed spoke to The Los Angeles Times. He described Swift, also 35, as “smart, grounded, and a shrewd businesswoman.” This inspired him to rewatch her 2022 graduation speech to the NYU class.

“Listening to that, you can get a much better feel for who this young lady is,” Ed told The Times. “It’s better than just celebrity gossip and social media snippets. That’s just celebrity stuff. This is more the real Taylor.”
