Switching to the electric car thanks to the ecological bonus, this is the help received by Sophie, who was able to receive 4,000 euros for a vehicle from an American manufacturer. From now on, cars produced abroad may no longer benefit from the bonus. “4,000, 5,000, 6,000 euros, in any case, it’s a significant sum. This helps us move towards electric. Today if they remove it, I think it’s a shame for all the manufacturers”, specifies the client.
Chinese manufacturers want to settle in Europe
From January 1, new criteria will be taken into account to receive the bonus, in particular the carbon footprint of the materials used to manufacture the vehicle, but also its mode of transport. Some models could therefore be penalized. Clément Lefèvre, spokesman for MG Motor France, is however not worried: “The cars remain cheaper than the competition, ecological bonus included“.
The manufacturer will soon set up a factory on the continent. He is not the only one to have taken the lead, according to automotive expert Alexandre Guillet. “OWe know that several manufacturers are in negotiations with European countries including France, so the day they have a factory in France, they will be eligible for the bonus“, he specifies. The government has set itself the target of one million vehicles manufactured in France by 2027.
