Earthquake hits Paktia again, 5 killed

KABUL: The ground in the Afghan province of Paktia was shaken once again by an earthquake and hundreds of houses were destroyed.

Zabihullah Mujahid, deputy information minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and spokesman for the Afghan Taliban, said that strong tremors were felt in Gyan district of Paktia again today, as a result of which hundreds of mud houses were reduced to rubble.

A statement issued by Zabihullah Mujahid said that five people were killed and 11 others injured in the quake, which caused huge financial losses. Rescue teams have launched relief operations in the affected areas.

It should be noted that three days ago, a magnitude 6.1 earthquake shook the eastern part of Afghanistan, the worst affected province was Paktia, where hundreds of people were killed and thousands injured, the worst quake wiped out many villages. gone.

The quake caused mobile towers and power poles to collapse in various parts of the country, and landslides have closed roads in mountainous areas and left hundreds stranded. Mass burials are being held for those killed in the natural disaster.
