The gaming industry is seeing a surge in game prices, with many titles now costing between $70 and $80. However, EA CEO Andrew Wilson says the company isn’t planning to raise its game prices anytime soon. During the company’s latest earnings report, Wilson explained that the current gaming landscape is vastly different from what it was a decade ago. Back then, the focus was on selling physical copies of games in boxes. Now, EA offers a wide range of pricing options, from free-to-play games to deluxe editions.
Wilson emphasized that the goal is to provide excellent quality and value to players, regardless of the price point. He stated, “Ultimately, whether we’re doing something that costs $1 or $10 or $100, our goal is to deliver great quality and value to our players.” This means that upcoming games like Madden NFL and EA Sports FC will likely stick to their current pricing structure, which is currently below the $70 mark.
Industry analysts point out that fans of a particular game or franchise are often willing to pay a premium to play it, regardless of the price. This suggests that EA’s pricing strategy is focused on providing value to its customers rather than simply increasing prices.
