Gustaf Lagerbielke, a player worth millions, finds himself in a truly bizarre situation. A Dutch town hall, the municipality of Enschede, has openly admitted they have no idea where he is. This is the town where Twente, his former loan club for the 2024/25 season from Celtic, is located.
The municipality regularly shares helpful news with its residents. In a statement released this Wednesday, they listed a group of citizens who are no longer registered in the Netherlands. Lagerbielke’s name was right there on that list.
The official statement from the Enschede municipality explained their actions clearly. “The municipality conducted a thorough search for these individuals’ homes. Our search shows we don’t know where they are,” the statement read. “Because of this, the municipality is canceling these individuals’ registrations. They are no longer registered in the Netherlands. This could affect things like benefits, subsidies, pensions, and medical care. Since we do not know their residences, we are telling them through this newspaper.”
Meanwhile, Lagerbielke is a key summer signing for Sp. Braga. The club’s management invested a significant 2.565 million euros to bring him in from Celtic. The 25-year-old center-back is an international player for Sweden. He even cut short his time in Sweden during the current league break, returning early because of an injury.
