Durán decides for Rangers with three-run triple

Ezequiel Duran hit a three-run triple with two outs in the ninth inning, and the Texas Rangers beat the Detroit Tigers 3-1 on Thursday.

Dominican closer Gregory Soto allowed the bases to be loaded with two walks and a hit, before his compatriot Duran sent the ball stuck to the first base, to the right field corner.

All three on-base players scored, and Soto blew a save for the second time this season.

Dominican Dennis Santana (3-2) took the victory by managing the eighth episode in white. Joe Barlow booked the ninth for his 12th save.

Soto’s (2-4) collapse, which sent Detroit to its fifth straight loss, marred a good seven-inning run by starter Beau Brieske.

For the Rangers, the Cuban Adolis García 4-0. The Dominicans Duran 4-1 with three RBIs, Leody Taveras 2-0.

For the Tigres, the Venezuelans Víctor Reyes 4-0, Miguel Cabrera 4-2, Harold Castro 3-0. Puerto Ricans Willi Castro 4-1 with a run scored, Javier Báez 4-1.
