Dune 3 Reveals Battle-Worn Timothee Chalamet Ahead Of Trailer

A new first-look image of Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides in the upcoming film Dune: Part Three reveals a significantly darker and more intense version of the character. The image showcases a battle-worn Lisan al-Gaib with deep scars around his spice-blue eyes, his face partially obscured by a black stillsuit mask. Chalamet originally debuted the photograph on his Instagram Stories on Monday, March 16, arriving just a day after the actor’s appearances following the 2026 Oscars red carpet and related weekend events.

Anticipation is currently building ahead of the film’s first official video footage. The official Dune social media accounts unveiled nine unmasked character posters and announced that the first teaser trailer is scheduled to premiere live on TikTok on Tuesday, March 17, at 9:00 AM PT.

Director Denis Villeneuve returns for the third and final installment of his science fiction franchise, adapting Frank Herbert’s second novel, Dune Messiah. The narrative explores the devastating physical and political toll of Paul’s reign as Emperor, as the galactic empire buckles under the weight of a holy war waged by his Fremen armies. The production brings back core cast members including Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, and Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho.

The ensemble cast is expanding with several new official confirmations. Robert Pattinson joins the franchise as Scytale, a lead villain representing a shadowy organization aiming to undermine Paul’s galactic rule. Broader casting reports verify the return of Javier Bardem as Stilgar and Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides. The film will also introduce Isaach De Bankole as Farok, alongside Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke, who are playing Paul’s twin children, Leto II and Ghanima.

Dune: Part Three is officially scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, setting up a box office release alongside Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday. The franchise enters its third entry following the financial and critical reception of Dune: Part Two, which grossed over $714 million globally and secured two Academy Awards.
