Duarte: “If things continue like this, it will be a very nice year”

Duarte looked for a way out in the summer market but did not find First teams willing to pay his termination clause and his salary. He stayed in Vitoria and in the first days Javi López overtook him in the starting line-up. Now he has taken over the position and plays as a starter in all the games, combining his defensive work with the rises on the wing where he meets Abde Rebbach or Luis Rioja.

The Andalusian offered his feelings after training in the afternoon. “When things are going well for you, working is much easier. But it costs you a world to win the games and we want to become strong in Mendizorroza. In Second, all the rivals can subdue you by playing their game. Despite the numbers I think we haven’t done anything yet. On Sunday you have to eat the grass again,” he said.

“There are always things to improve. The other day, for example, we were not successful in the first half with the ball. And Ponfe will make things difficult for us. You have to be confident but not think that everything is done. All those who enter contribute and those who do not, too”, he added. Duarte warned that “in a couple of games things can change a lot and the rival team does things very well.”

The winger commented that “in today’s training we have finally all been. Every week is different and we have to reinforce the things we are doing well. Since I got here I have shown that I will work 200 percent and I will try to contribute whenever and wherever it is available to the coach”. In addition, he pointed out that “at home we feel very comfortable, the team leaves everything in the games and the union with the fans is being very important. If things continue along these lines, it will be a very nice year”.
