More and more we are heading towards a future where we can forget about the wallet at home and not get stuck if we need to use the Driving Permit or the Citizenship Card.
In theory, this is already possible thanks to the id.gov.pt application, which is the official application to access digital documents issued by the Portuguese State. But in the future, we may have these documents in Google Wallet as well.
The new function of Google Wallet enters tests in the United States
Introducing the new Google Wallet in May, Google announced that it would support digital ID and driver’s licenses before the end of the year. And this possibility is already being tested.
As revealed by XDA-Developers, in the December update of the Google Play system, it includes mentions of support for digital ID and driver’s license in the application.
For now, these features will be available in beta only in the United States and only in select states. More details should be known in the coming weeks.
